Jane Mukanohire, a mother of four, was a victim of spousal abandonment and domestic negligence.
Her Story
Mukanohire and her four children were abandoned by her husband, a teacher, who became an alcoholic and fled, leaving behind debts. She lost her house and was cast out due to her inability to pay rent. She was forced to set up a temporary shelter in the middle of an artificial forest in Rwemirama, Kamwenge.
Her Danger
When TSOHU visited, she was in a state of fear, concerned that her family could be attacked, especially since the nearby area had been invaded by The Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), a terrorist organization. Her greatest wishes were to secure a safe house and education for her children.
