The foundation of TSOHU is deeply personal, stemming from the life of its Founder and CEO, Christine Kyarikunda. After facing the challenges of becoming an orphan at a young age, enduring an interrupted education, and surviving a marriage marked by domestic violence and persecution, Christine chose to reclaim her future. Driven by a lack of justice in her own case, she returned to school to study journalism, aiming to amplify the voices of the voiceless and provide the support she once lacked. This resilience birthed TSOHU, an organization dedicated to advocating for gender equality and providing a sanctuary for survivors.

2024: A Year of Structural Transformation

One of the most significant milestones achieved in 2024 was the formal restructuring and incorporation of the organization. Moving from an informal initiative to a legal entity, TSOHU established a Board of Trustees and a Board of Directors to provide strategic guidance and ensure transparency.

This year also saw the development of comprehensive organizational policies and financial management systems, laying a solid foundation for future growth. Furthermore, TSOHU is on track to acquire full NGO status by May 2025, which will enhance its capacity to partner with international stakeholders.

Expanding Reach and Social Advocacy

TSOHU has leveraged modern media to bridge the gap between victims and justice through its TSOHO Gender Lens News Media initiative. This platform has seen exponential growth, with a subscriber base surpassing 5,500 and a cumulative audience reach of over 100,000 individuals through more than 100 articles and 38 videos.
On the ground, the organization conducted school outreaches that reached 5,000 students, focusing on life skills, mental health, and the importance of avoiding premature sexual activity and violence.

Key Impact Metrics for 2024:

  • Social Media Reach: More than 100,000 individuals cumulatively reached.
  • Mainstream Media Reach: Over 20,000 individuals reached via TV and Radio.
  • Direct Engagement: 5,000 students and families reached through outreaches and home visits.
  • Content Production: 100 articles and 38 videos published to foster gender-sensitive understanding.

Looking Toward the 2025 Outlook

As TSOHU moves into 2025, its primary focus is on “Scaling Our Reach & Deepening Partnerships”. The organization has already forged a strategic partnership with Sowers of Love Charities to enhance its programming and access new resources. Despite facing challenges such as limited financial resources and difficult rural infrastructure, the organization remains committed to expanding into new territories and addressing emerging needs within the community. Through continued advocacy and empowerment, TSOHU aims to create a more peaceful and gender-sensitive world.
