Abdalah Kawesi’s life is a devastating consequence of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and abandonment.
His Story
Kawesi was born after his mother, a housemaid to his father, conceived and was subsequently chased away by her employer. Later, his mother abandoned him at his father’s workplace. He lived with a neglectful father and eventually ended up on the street. After his father’s death, his siblings were taken away by their mother, leaving Kawesi completely alone. He was eventually taken in by Rwobugoigo Primary School, where he was found to be worried about continuing to secondary education.
His Hope
Despite the trauma, Kawesi dreams of becoming a medical doctor, inspired by the loss of his father, to save people’s lives.
